Unravelling the nonlinear, emergent, and chaotic dynamics of complex systems lies at the heart of many scientific questions. How individual elements of a system give rise to collective behavior, and how systems interact with their environment, are central to gaining a predictive understanding of system properties, function, and behavior.
This Brown Bag Discussion series will highlight complex systems from multiple scientific and engineering perspectives across the laboratory. Invited speakers will present short descriptions of topical areas and then discussion will be encouraged to explore common goals and objectives in disciplines as diverse as material science, nuclear physics, ecology, urban dynamics, chemistry, and biology.
