ORNL researcher elected fellow of American Nuclear Society


OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Nov. 24, 1999 — Dr. Rusi Teleyarkhan, group leader and program manager in the Engineering and Technology Division of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been elected a fellow by the board of directors of the American Nuclear Society.

Teleyarkan has been project manager since 1988 for projects ranging from nuclear safety to explosion initiation/prevention and novel propulsion systems development. He is also editor of The Nuclear Safety Journal.

He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, master's degrees in nuclear engineering and business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a doctorate in nuclear engineering from Rensselaer.

He and his wife, Navaz Rusi, live in Farragut and have three children - Pervin, Manaz and Meher.

ORNL is a DOE multiprogram research facility and is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
