Bain promoted to financial manager of ORNL division

Kurt Bain has been promoted to finance manager for the Computing, Robotics and Education Directorate of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

He was previously finance officer for the Research Reactors Division. Bain joined ORNL in 1989 after serving six years in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, serving as a financial management specialist. While stationed there, Bain earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from McMurry (Texas) College.

Bain and his wife, Marcia, live in the Hardin Valley area of West Knoxville and have three children, Steven, 10; Michelle, 9; and Ashley, 7.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Martin Marietta Energy Systems, a Lockheed Martin company, which also manages the Oak Ridge K-25 Site and the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
