Cochran appointed to commission

Hank Cochran, senior research staffer in the Chemical Technology Division of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been appointed to the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

The organization accredits engineering-related programs at colleges and universities in the United States.

Cochran has worked in Oak Ridge since 1973 on various projects. In 1968 and '69, he was assistant director of the MIT School of Chemical Engineering Practice in Oak Ridge. Cochran has also been an adjunct professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Tennessee since 1985.

Cochran earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Princeton University and his master's and doctorate in chemical engineering from MIT.

He holds memberships in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Chemical Society and American Physical Society.

Cochran and his wife, Betsy, reside in Oak Ridge and have two adult children - Sara and John.

ORNL is a DOE multiprogram facility operated by UT-Battelle.
