HTML graduate fellow earns doctoral degree

Dr. Doug Taylor, a High Temperature Materials Laboratory (HTML) graduate fellow at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), recently earned his doctorate in materials science and engineering from the University of Arizona.

Taylor previously completed a defense of his dissertation, "Structure and Properties of Laser-Fired Sol-Gel Derived Tungsten Oxide Films."

He is the first person to complete the HTML graduate fellow program. It is open to U.S. citizens who have earned a bachelor's degree with a grade-point average of at least 3.5 and are working on a thesis directly related to one of DOE's material technical areas.

A resident of Rio Rancho, N.M., Taylor earned a bachelor's degree in materials engineering from New Mexico Technical University and a master's degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Arizona.

In addition to graduate fellowships, HTML offers industrial, faculty and postdoctoral fellowships. For more information on the HTML fellowship program, contact Billie Russell, fellowship coordinator, at 865-574-1926 or e-mail Russellbj@ornl.gov .

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, which also manages the Oak Ridge K-25 Site and the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
