Lindberg to participate in mercury workshop

Dr. Steven Lindberg, a researcher in the Environmental Sciences Division of the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been invited to participate in the 1998 Science Experts Workshop on Mercury in North America Oct. 6-8 in Nevada.

The workshop was created as a result of an international task force report recommendation from the North American Regional Action Plan on Mercury. The workshop will attempt to implement an action plan to reduce and prevent releases of mercury in Canada, the United States and Mexico while producing a sound management of mercury.

Lindberg earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Duke University and a doctorate in chemical oceanography from Florida State University. He and his wife are residents of Kingston.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
