Godfrey was awarded the Best Newcomer Award, presented in recognition of her "demonstrated initiative, competency and professionalism needed to become one of ORNL's top secretaries." Godfrey, who is a member of the Oak Ridge Chapter of Professional Secretaries International, joined ORNL in 1992. She has an extensive background in travel and patent law. Godfrey resides in West Knoxville.
ORNL secretaries nominated Simonson to receive the Secretaries' Choice Award in recognition of her "strong support and leadership to other division secretaries while successfully and competently managing the division office." Simonson has served 18 years in ORNL's Metals and Ceramics Division and also received ORNL's 1996 World Class Teamwork Award. She resides in Farragut.
Bishop received the Secretarial Achievement Award in honor of her "sustained administrative contributions of the highest quality and productivity to research programs in the Metals and Ceramics Division for over 20 years." Bishop resides in Northwest Knoxville.
ORNL's Administrative Advisory Council sponsors the annual secretarial awards. The council was formed in 1992 with the mission of supporting ORNL research and development activities by improving communications among the administrative support staff.
