ORNL organization earns quality commitment award

The Transportation and Packaging Management Organization of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has been presented a Tennessee Quality Commitment Award.

Tennessee Gov. Don Sundquist presented the award to organization manager Randy Walker during an awards dinner in Nashville, attracting more than 1,000 representatives of participating companies, organizations and support groups in the Volunteer State.

Organizations earning this award have advanced from undertaking initial quality control programs to an intermediate level and are recognized for their accomplishments. The ORNL organization was recognized for documenting a solid approach to system-level quality management and implementing plans and procedures.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
