ORNL scientist earns editors' citation

Dr. Gerilyn R. Moline, research staff scientist in the Environmental Sciences Division of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has earned an editors award from the American Geophysical Union (AGU).

The award is a citation of excellence for refereeing for Water Resources Journal, a preeminent journal for hydrologic science published by the AGU. Refereeing involves performing a peer technical review of a paper for scientific content, clarity of the information presented, validity of the conclusions made and appropriateness for the journal.

The AGU is a society of more than 35,000 members representing 115 nations with the purpose of advancing progress in the earth, atmospheric, oceanic, hydrologic and space and planetary sciences. The society reviews submitted papers on subjects within these areas.

Moline earned a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Southern Maine, and a master's degree and doctorate in geophysics and hydrology, respectively, from the University of Wisconsin. At ORNL, Moline also serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Tennessee and in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah. She resides in West Knoxville.

ORNL is a DOE multiprogram research facility and is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
