Reeves has been acting director of the center since November 1995. The center coordinates ORNL's efforts in the bioprocessing field in working with other laboratories, academia and industry. Bioprocessing is the use of biological systems, such as organisms, cells or enzymes, to perform chemical transformations.
He has worked at ORNL since 1983. Prior to being named acting director of the center, he was manager of ORNL's Research and Development Program. He is a former post-doctoral research associate with ORNL and the University of Tennessee. Since 1986, Reeves has specialized in the biodegradation of hazardous chemicals.
Reeves graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1977 with a B.S. degree in biology and chemistry. He earned a doctorate in plant physiology and biochemistry from the University of Tennessee.
He and his wife, Linda, live in West Knoxville with their son, David.
ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corp.
