The Standard Model of particle physics is the remarkably successful theory describing the electromagnetic, weak, and strong nuclear interactions. For various reasons it is believed to be incomplete, driving the search for new physics which can help to conceive of and constrain extensions to the Standard Model. Such searches for new physics are often done at the highest achievable laboratory energies. Complementary to these searches, comparatively low energy experiments, such as parity-violating electron-scattering on fixed targets, can be used to make precision measurements of electroweak quantities which can also be calculated to high precision using the Standard Model. This presentation will introduce the topic of parity-violating electron-scattering, discuss the latest experimental data available, and look to future projects.
