Surface studies provide topic of Dec. 11 Showcase Lecture

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Dec. 5, 1997 — Dr. Deborah Huntley of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory will present a Showcase lecture at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at ORNL's Wigner Auditorium on the topic "Catalysis: What Can We Learn From Surface Studies?".

Huntley, a research staff member in the Surface Chemistry and Heterogeneous Catalysis Group of ORNL's Chemical and Analytical Sciences Division, will discuss fundamental studies of catalytic processes, which are relevant to industrial and environmental applications. The group's research centers around using modern surface analysis methods to understand the structure and chemistry of catalyst surfaces. Specific subjects to be discussed include model hydrotreating and emission control catalysts.

To make arrangements to attend, call ORNL's Communications and Public Affairs Office at 865-574-4165.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
