Heather Aczel is a Project Controls Specialist with the Project Management Office, and is assigned to the Exascale Computing Project (ECP), and leads project controls for the Hardware and Integration focus area within ECP. This role works with other members of the project controls and management teams, and includes estimating, cost and schedule management, risk management, change management, earned value progressing, and forecasting.
ECP has approximately 1,000 researchers, scientists, and technical professionals from 15 of the 17 DOE laboratories across the country, as well as partner universities and vendors. The goal of ECP is to deliver specific applications, software products, and outcomes on DOE exascale computing facilities, primarily ALCF-3 (Aurora) and OLCF-5 (Frontier). The Hardware and Integration (HI) Area is focused on the integration and deployment of software, applications, and hardware innovations for these platforms. HI helps deliver well-tested software and optimized applications, assists with allocation and account support for ECP teams running on early hardware and eventual exascale systems, and provides training for the broad ECP user base.
