Jacob R McCulley

Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Engineer

Jacob McCulley, group leader for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Engineering in the Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate’s Enrichment Science and Engineering Division, joined ORNL in 2021. In this role, he primarily supports the development of hardware and software solutions for the advancement of isotope enrichment technologies and isotope production. Prior to joining ORNL, McCulley was a CT engineer for Y-12 National Security Complex; a software engineer for ProNova Solutions; and a system engineer for Analysis and Measurement Services (AMS) Corp. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee.

McCulley has earned a certification for LabVIEW software development, received two National Instruments engineering impact awards in the subject area of Industrial Monitoring and Control, and co-authored seven awarded Small Business Innovation Research, or SBIR, proposals. As part of his SBIR contributions, McCulley was listed as an inventor for one granted US patent, “Systems and methods of monitoring control rods of a nuclear power plant.” In 2023, McCulley was named a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
