Radioisotope Production Technician

Taylor grew up in northeast Florida and joined the United States Navy directly after high school. He spent 10 years in the nuclear navy specializing as a nuclear electrician, serving as a maintenance and training supervisor on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and as an instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Charleston SC. He completed the nuclear pipeline in 2015 and spent over 4 years on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, where he served in various roles, including managing all electrical maintenance associated with the critical reactor plant electrical systems, managing the reactor departments training and examination program, and serving as the supervisor of all electrical watch standers for the ship. In 2019 he reported as an instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Unit where he spent 4 years training enlisted and officer students on all aspects of naval nuclear reactor operations and maintenance. While an instructor he held various positions, including the supervisor of all electrical instructors and students on his shift, an Engineering Watch Supervisor for his shift (Reactor shift supervisor equivalent), and he managed the Off-crew training portion of the school where he managed over 50 instructors and 350 students. After completing his service in the nuclear navy, he worked as a multi-craft maintenance technician at Volvo cars focusing on PLC and robotic programming prior to accepting his role at ORNL. He comes to Oak Ridge excited to use his training and education to make a positive impact on society through radioisotope production.
