The speaker will review his career thus far, with a focus on influential people, experiences, opportunities, decisions and transitions. Based on his experiences as a researcher and a manager, the speaker will provide his thoughts and advice relative to the transition from graduate school to a professional career, as well as key characteristics and behaviors for being successful.

Brief Bio: John received a B. S. in nuclear engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1992 and M. S. and Ph. D. degrees from the Pennsylvania State University in 1994 and 1997, respectively.  He joined ORNL as R&D staff in 1999 and has served in a wide variety of capacities since this time.  In September 2012 he was elected a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society followed by receiving the E. O. Lawrence Award from the DOE in 2013.

Light refreshments will be served.

This talk will be followed by a Q&A session and ‘meet & greet’ with the speaker.
