Auto Flow Reactors

Flow reactors offer superior control over a wide range of reaction conditions and have several advantages over batch reactors such as: fast mixing, short residence time, well-defined reaction temperature, high specific surface area (high thermal transfer efficiency), easy controlling of pressure (e.g. up to 200 bar for Phoenix Flow Reactor), no separation for heterogeneous reactions, convenient for
multi-step reactions, and easy to scale up.

autoflow

The Autoflows Laboratory (INTERSECT) is housed at CNMS. This is an AI/ML driven flow chemistry laboratory initiated with the ORNL LDRD capable of PVT control in flow chemistry and polymerization parameters with access to ORNL computing facilities for algorithm development and data storage.  Current systems include a Snapdragon and ThalesNano.  Contact CNMS staff for more information on the autoflow systems including reactor modules and in-line characterization capabilities.
