Building 3047 Operations

Oak Ridge National Lab produces, purifies and ships more isotopes than any other place in the world. To streamline that process, the Isotope Processing and Manufacturing Division (IPMD) was created in 2022 to ship hundreds of types of isotopes used in medicine, research, industry and space exploration.

The 3047 Operations group is responsible for the production of various radioisotopes to support the DOE Isotope Program. The group also works closely with ORNL’s Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division to operate and maintain the Radioisotope Development Laboratory Hazard Category 3 nuclear facility.
