The Silver Award for “Best Original Article” published in The Plant Journal in 2017 was awarded to the authors of “The Physcomitrella patens chromosome-scale assembly reveals moss genome structure and evolution”. CBI authors included: Lee Gunter, Wellington Muchero, Priya Ranjan, and Gerald A. Tuskan. The editorial board for the journal choose from highly downloaded articles to choose the winners in this the first year of awards.
The publication explores the draft genome of the moss model, Physcomitrella patens to enable analyses of genome structure and evolution to generate a chromosome-scale genome assembly using genetic linkage to sequence long DNA fragments.
