Condensed Matter Theory - Home

The Condensed Matter Theory group performs basic science research in the field of condensed matter physics to understand, discover and design complex and emergent phenomena.

Research

Our research focuses on examining and exploring materials functionalities through the application and development of electronic structure and many-body techniques. Specific interests lie in the quantitative understanding of the rich physics and chemistry underpinning quasiparticle couplings, strongly correlated materials, complex magnetic and quantum phenomena and how these functionalities are altered in the presence of defects, dopants and/or disorder. Our research has wide ranging impact in the fields of topological quantum computation, thermal transport and management, multiferroics, superconductivity and magnetism.
