Quantum Heterostructures

The Quantum Heterostructures Group performs research in experimental condensed matter physics and materials science, focusing on functional oxides and topological quantum materials. The group is specialized in synthesizing artificial crystals, epitaxial thin films, and heterostructures by pulsed-laser deposition and molecular beam epitaxy. We focus on a wide class of quantum materials, including strongly correlated oxides, ferroic materials, and topological insulators. Of particular interest is advancing knowledge of quantum materials for quantum information science that can eventually lead to the realization of quantum computing. Ultimately, our goal is to understand, control, and exploit the electronic, magnetic, and structural interactions of quantum heterostructures and their coupled interfaces for next-generation information, energy, and computing technologies.
