Jim Evans, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer assigned to Oak Ridge's DOE Reservation, said the walks are about two miles on a level dirt road.
Participants should dress in layers, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water and insect repellant, Evans said. A field guide to birds and a pair of binoculars also will be helpful, he said.
Each walk is limited to 25 people. Children are welcome.
Pre-registration is required by the Thursday before each walk. Reservations may be made by calling Lissa Clarke of the American Museum of Science and Energy at 865-576-3218.
Participants will meet at 7 a.m. in the parking lot of Oak Ridge Associated Universities' site at the intersection of Scarboro and Bethel Valley roads. In case of rain, any rescheduling will be announced on ORNL's Work and Weather Information line at 865-574-9836 by 6 a.m. the day of the walks.
