The data generated by the NADP/NTN network are recognized as being of the highest quality, and the program has served as a model for other monitoring networks.
Lu joined ORNL in 1983 and is a senior laboratory technician in the Research Services and the Ecological Sciences sections of the Environmental Sciences Division. She is site operator for the station located at ORNL's Walker Branch Watershed. She has an associate's degree in chemical engineering from the State Technical Institute at Knoxville.
She was a volunteer teacher of Chinese writing, grammar and conversation at Knoxville Chinese School from 1976 to 1992. Lu is a member of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and the Jubilee International Festival. She is the vice president of membership for the Organization of Chinese Americans.
Lu lives with her husband, Kuang Wu, in Knoxville. They have three children, Cindy, Cathy and David.
