OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Aug. 22, 2013 -- During a recent visit to the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, R-Tenn., discussed the recent formation of the House Science and National Laboratories Caucus.
The caucus concentrates on federal research investment and increases public awareness of the U.S. national laboratories, including ORNL.
“The National Labs Caucus is open to all members of both parties,” said Fleischmann, who is one of 41 members from 21 states who have caucus membership. “I am a founding member of that caucus because of ORNL. There are members from all over the United States who can participate and work to advocate for what we are doing in our national laboratories.
The caucus recently hosted a Washington bioenergy forum where Martin Keller, ORNL’s associate laboratory director for energy and environmental sciences, made a presentation before more than 80 congressional staff members about bioenergy research taking place at ORNL.
