First up will be noted Oak Ridge historian Gene Pickel, bringing the past alive with "A Historical Perspective of Oak Ridge." Next will be Kelly Roy of Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Environmental Sciences Division, who will lead "A Walk In Search of the Elusive American Woodcock." Both activities will take place at the 160-year-old Freels Bend cabin.
Reservations are necessary. Participants should call Lissa Clarke of the American Museum of Science and Energy (AMSE) at 865-576-3218 no later than Friday, March 3. There is a group size limit.
The group will meet at 5 p.m. March 4 in the parking lot on the south side of the Scarboro Operations Site at the intersection of Bethel Valley and Scarboro roads. Participants should consider wearing warm clothes, bring a canteen and a snack.
