ORNL’s Jitendra Kumar elevated to senior member of IEEE

Jitendra Kumar, a researcher at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been elevated to the grade of senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Senior members of the IEEE are those who have worked in a relevant field for at least 10 years and have made significant contributions to the profession.

Kumar is a research staff member in the Environmental Sciences Division and the Climate Change Science Institute at ORNL. His research interests include computational hydrology and hydrogeology, terrestrial biogeochemistry, landscape ecology, remote sensing, machine learning and large-scale data analytics.

Working at the intersection of computing and earth sciences, Kumar is also interested in development of parallel algorithms and tools that use high-performance computing and artificial intelligence to address challenging questions in climate science.
