Parker named to editorial board of mechanical engineering journal

Lynne Parker of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) will serve on the editorial board of a new journal.

The publication, International Journal of Emerging Mechanical Engineering Technology, will address innovative research in the field. Parker's duties will include reviewing papers for content validity, making suggestions for improving published work and helping publicize the new journal.

Parker earned her master's degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee and her doctorate in the same subject from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has served as a research associate at both MIT and Hughes Research Lab.

She began her career at ORNL in 1983 as a computing analyst at Y-12. Most recently, Parker has been group leader of computational intelligence in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division.

A native of Knoxville, Parker continues to reside there with her husband, Robert Newton Parker.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corp.
