Magnetic skyrmions stabilize Majorana bound states

A novel heterostructure that combines a planar Josephson junction (JJ) with a magnetic skyrmion crystal (SkX) is predicted to create Majorana bound states (MBSs) without having strong spin-orbit coupling and phase biasing.

The new quantum heterostructure provides design flexibility for the creation and braiding of MBSs for quantum computing.
