Aaron T O'Toole

Robotics Engineer

Aaron is a robotics engineer in the Autonomous Systems Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He specializes in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, and algorithm development related to small autonomous vehicles for air, ground, surface, and underwater applications. Aaron's background has focused on several national security topics such as automated welding of naval ships at Tennessee Tech University, development of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) robots at NSWC Indian Head, and development of new computed tomography processes for some of the nation's most critical weapon systems at Y-12 National Security Complex. He is currently involved in vehicle development, visual-inertial state estimation, and simultaneous localization and mapping.
