Bio
Art is a mechanical designer for Instrument Systems at the Second Target Station. He started his career after attending the Institute of Drafting and Design Engineering in Glendale Arizona. His first job out of school was as a drafter with a subsidiary of Allied Signal working on military radar. Over the years he has had positions in different industries allowing him to work his way up to Designer and gain experience in many different areas of mechanical design from electronic packaging, motion systems, piping and pressure vessel design.
Prior to joining ORNL, Art worked for Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems of Goleta, CA, designing extendable booms and deployable solar arrays for satellites. He has designed pressure and vacuum vessels to ASME and Bioprocessing standards for Stainless Process Systems of Oxnard, CA. He has also designed production tooling and fixtures for Guild Guitars. Art has over 35 years of design experience using Creo, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
