Brian Howe is the Issues Management Program Manager and Subject Matter Expert as part of the Contractor Assurance Group. Brian is overall responsible for the stewardship of the Issues Management program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This includes providing oversight and feedback of in-process issues, driving overall improvements to performance, establishing screening teams and trending boards, and mentoring deployed issues management analysts.
Brian started this role in 2023 after 2 years as the Compliance and Assessments Coordinator for Research Reactors Division (RRD). In that position, he facilitated RRD’s continuous improvement process by managing the Issues Management, Events Management, and Safety Security and Regulatory processes for the division. He also coordinated assessment activities and trending programs to improve organizational learning.
Brian has more than 15 years of nuclear experience in operations, radiological controls, and process improvement; and 1 year of experience managing and implementing complex information system projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
