Cassie Scully S Sabens

Mechanical Design Engineer

Cassie Scully Sabens is the Lead Systems Engineer for the NOMAD and U-SANS instruments at SNS and GP-SANS and BIO-SANS at HFIR. She has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Engineering with a concentration in System's Engineering from Purdue University. Cassie's passion for research started when she received a position as an undergraduate researcher in the Robotics and Spatial Systems Laboratory where she did research on industrial robots and helped develop a conceptual design for a novel hexapod robot that utilizes a spherical four bar mechanism for the legs. After graduating with her bachelor's degree Cassie worked at GE Transportation, GE Healthcare, and Otis Elevator before joining ORNL. Cassie has spent  her career focusing on new product design and system integration.
