Charlie is a Hot Cell Operations Specialist in the Radiochemical Engineering Development Center Hot Cell Operations Group.
A Pennsylvania native, he joined ORNL in 2009. In 2017, he was recognized for his role in the discovery of element 117, tennessine, as part of the technical and specialty support team. In 2018, his team was recognized at UT-Battelle's annual awards night for dedicated contributions to the mission success of ORNL’s californium-252, plutonium-238, and plutonium-beryllium programs; for working expanded shifts to meet program demands and challenges; and for innovative approaches to waste minimization in compliance with new, more restrictive waste management requirements.
