Emanuel Washington

HFIR Maintenance Reliability Engineer

Mr. Washington joined the ORNL team in 2019.  As the HFIR Maintenance Reliability Engineer Emanuel manages the predictive maintenance process and provides engineering support and leadership for corrective, preventative and precision maintenance programs as well as for other projects the contribute to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the High Flux Isotope Reactor.

Prior to working at ORNL, Mr. Washington spent 12 years in predictive technologies and reliability engineering at the second largest domestic steel manufacturer, US Steel in Gary, Indiana.  During this time, he took on increasingly more responsibilities: Vibration Technician, Thermographer, Competent (Safety) Person, Reliability Engineer and Planning Manager are a few official hats worn.

Emanuel holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He became a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) in 2017 and holds certifications in several predictive technologies: Vibration Analysis (CAT III), Machinery Lubrication (MLT II, MLA I), Infrared Thermographer (Level 2) and Ultrasound (Level 1).
