Gary join the Data Acquisition and Controls group at HFIR in 2016 as a DAQ Software Engineer, now a DAQ Integration Software Engineer in the Neutron Technologies Division. Gary's primary role at ORNL has been developing instrument data acquisition software including device drivers, User Interfaces and automation processes for both the SpICE (Spectometer & Instrument Control Environment) and the EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) instrument based control systems supporting the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) and the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR).
Prior to coming to ORNL, Gary established a long history of controls system design and software development for manufacturing. Gary applies the knowledge and practices from his background to improve the instrument operations efficiency, create intuitive functional interfaces, produce reliable solutions meeting end user needs.
