Jopaul is a passionate chemist hailing from Kerala, a southern state in India. His academic journey began at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, Punjab, where he pursued integrated BS-MS studies in chemistry from 2011 to 2016. During his time at the institute, His fascination for synthetic organic chemistry blossomed, and he honed his skills through various hands-on projects, starting from summer projects in 2012 up to his final year project in 2016. In pursuit of further knowledge and expertise, Jopaul embarked on a new adventure and moved to Virginia, USA, to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry with Dr. Paul Carlier. Jopaul's doctoral research, completed in 2022, comprehend optimizing beta carboline antimalarial drug compounds in the hit-to-lead stage. In January 2023, Jopaul took on a role as a postdoctoral research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), under the guidance of Dr. Santa Jansone-Popova, in Chemical Science Division. In this new position, Jopaul's focus shifted towards applying organic synthesis in the realm of nuclear science and separations. His cutting-edge work and innovative contributions to the field have already begun to make a significant impact.
