Matt Waddel received a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1992 from the University of Arizona with an emphasis on data communications and networking. He joined ORNL in Jan 2020 as a member of the DAQ Development group. Recently transferred to the Controls Integration group working on Linux Device Driver controls integration.

Prior to joining ORNL he worked at several hardware/software positions integrating electronic hardware with Linux software. Many of these projects included low level hardware integration and design implementation. Software integration tasks included u-boot, uClinux, Linux kernel drivers and Linux package maintenance. These tasks required implementation of code at all levels of the Linux software stack.

He has presented at several Linux community conferences including LinuxCon and the Freescale(NXP) Technical Forum. He also taught a university class "Introduction to Computing Systems" which was required by all CS and EE students.
