2017 – Present, Oak Ridge National Laboratory – Hardware Design Master Technician – High Flux Isotope Reactor

Responsible for design, documentation, installation, and commissioning of neutron scattering instrument hardware and hardware process controls, general improvements and operations within the “Sample Environment” and “Data Acquisition” groups. Day to day operational support to instrument scientist, scientific associates, users, software developers within my group, as well as anybody else on premises needing assistance with set up, hook up, and / or troubleshooting. Advise craft personnel during project installations and repairs.

 

2008 – 2017, Mesa Associates - Senior I&C Designer

  • Subcontracted to Oak Ridge National Lab – High Flux Isotope Reactor where I was responsible for design, documentation installation and commissioning of neutron scattering instrument process controls, general improvements and operations within the “Sample Environment” and “Data Acquisition” groups. Advise craft personnel during project installations and repairs.
  • Performed field documentation of power distribution systems for several industrial facilities as a prerequisite to arc flash analysis.
  • Specified instrumentation for industrial and nuclear safety systems.
  • Designed fire alarm retrofit and several new installations for large aluminum manufacturer.

 

1993 – 2008 Carlex Glass Company

1999-2008 Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Design, retrofit, and supervise installation of many control and DAQ systems utilizing Yokogawa “CS3000” DCS systems and Omron PLC systems.
  • Provide technical assistance on an as needed basis to the engineering specialists and maintenance technicians.

1997-1999 Maintenance Team Leader:

  • Directed team activities toward daily maintenance functions, integrity of process and equipment improvement.
  • Established a calibration tracking system for HVAC systems compliant with ISO 9002.

1993-1997 Maintenance Technician:

  • Maintenance of various types of equipment such as: Fanuc robots, CNC systems, PLCs, pneumatics, HVAC systems, inverter motor controls.
