Mirko Pavicic Venegas

Computational Biologist

I am a Computational Biologist in the Computational Predictive Biology group led by Robert W Cottingham. My main background is in plant biotechnology, but most recently I specialized in the operation of image-based high-throughput plant phenotyping infrastructures, and the analysis of the data they produce. This specialization led me to learn imageJ for complex processing of batch images, R, python, and SQL for data manipulation, and statistical modeling following the Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data principles. These mixture of skills allowed me to expand beyond plant biotechnology field and be part of human health projects in the Million Veteran Program related to COVID19 and suicide prevention.

My current interests are High Performance Computing (HPC), image-based phenotyping, data science, data management and statistical modeling.
