Nuclear Safety Program Lead

Natasha Blair is the Nuclear Safety Program Lead in the Nuclear Facility Safety Division within the Environment, Safety, Health and Quality Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a role she’s held since 2022. Prior to that, she spent 17 years as a technical adviser in the lab’s Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division of the Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate. She previously was at Y-12 National Security Complex for 12 years, serving first as system engineer and later as shift technical adviser.

Natasha chairs the Safety Design Integration Team (SDIT) for the Radioisotope Production Facility. In this role, she reviews RPF project documents to assess the potential effects on nuclear safety design and the nuclear safety basis development process. She provides relevant feedback to the design organization.

Natasha’s 30 years of experience include start-ups, restarts and readiness reviews for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities and activities; system engineering activities; maintenance and implementation of safety basis requirements; and implementation of Conduct of Operations programs. She is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Nuclear and Facility Safety management system and Configuration Management for ORNL and maintains qualifications as an ORNL Lead Auditor.

Natasha holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University and a Master of Science degree in industrial engineering from the University of Tennessee.
