Lead, Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Prashant Ojha joined the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 2019. He is part of the US ITER project group, responsible for the planning, design, fabrication and delivery of its Roughing Pump System's (RPS) Instrumentation and Controls (I&C). In his role as the Lead I&C engineer, he is also the Control Account Manager for the RPS I&C.

Prashant previously served at Holtec International for their Small Modular Reactor (SMR) division, holding the role of I&C Engineer addressing early design and licensing of first of a kind small modular reactor technology. He developed the safety logics for the reactor shutdown including reactor in-core and ex-core flux monitoring. He lead the I&C aspects of reactor licensing, working with SNC Lavalin and Canadian Nuclear agency. He started his career in metals and mining greenfield project, working as a project engineer onsite to install and commission Instrument and controls room equipment.

His career in nuclear began working with leading an I&C  team for the Westinghouse nuclear AP 1000 reactor, working through the various I&C lifecycles; such as design and testing.

Prashant holds a BS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India. He is currently pursuing his MS in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee.
