Executive Administrator

Kay Harmon is an accomplished Executive Administrative Assistant with a robust career spanning multiple departments at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). She began her tenure at ORNL in 2016 within the Office of Administrative Services, where she quickly established herself as a diligent and resourceful team member.

After demonstrating her administrative prowess, Kay transitioned to a role as a group administrator within Safety Services, where her organizational skills and attention to detail were instrumental in maintaining efficient operations and supporting the department's initiatives in both record retention and IH Lab assistance. 

In pursuit of broader experiences, Kay Harmon subsequently transferred her administrative support to various groups within the Biological and Environmental Science Directorate. During this period, she honed her ability to adapt to diverse roles and effectively manage complex administrative tasks. She became the Division Admin for Biosciences in 2022, where she supported Julie Mitchell. 

In 2023, Kay's exemplary performance and reputation for excellence led to her appointment as the Executive Administrative Assistant to Jimmy Stone, a role in which she provided dedicated support to facilitate his responsibilities until his retirement. Her tenure with Jimmy Stone underscored her capability to handle high-level administrative duties with professionalism and discretion.

Currently, Kay Harmon serves as the Executive Administrative Assistant to Ann Weaver within the Facilities and Operations Directorate at ORNL. In this capacity, she continues to leverage her extensive administrative experience and commitment to organizational efficiency to support the directorate's strategic goals.

As a First Generation College Student, Kay graduated from Tusculum University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Accounting. She will graduate in December 2024 with a Master's Degree in Organizational Training and Performance Management.
