Scott S Dixon

Mechanical Designer

Scott is involved in design of instruments for the Second Target Station at Spallation Neutron Source. He has recently been involved on the MPEX project as lead designer for the Helicon, ECH and ICH systems. The integration of a faraday shield and RF coax in a water-cooled environment has helped the project move through complex design issues as it progresses through preliminary design. Several years on the Uranium Process Facility project gave him insight to glovebox equipment design, remote handling and process piping layout with sensitive materials. Prior to government work, his work was with large corporations such as Westinghouse, Motorola and Siemens. This gave way to a wide variety of design disciplines such as plastic injection mold, telecommunication sheet metal cabinets and mechanism designs for circuit breakers.

He has accumulated over 30 years of mechanical design experience and 26 years of Creo/ProE experience using a wide range of modules such as Advanced Assembly, Piping, Advanced Surfacing,  and AFX. His experience with Creo has serviced many other designers over the years as a mentor and someone to always ask for help. While at Siemens, he obtained his Six Sigma Green Belt and several patents.
