Instrument Design Engineer

Steven Mellard is an early to mid career research engineer with interests in advanced materials and manufacturing. He received a M.Sc. in Radiological and Nuclear Engineer from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2019, and a double B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and physics from at Georgia Institute of Technology and University of West Georgia respectively in 2014. As an instrument design engineer at the Neutron Sciences Directorate, Steven provides the scientific staff of the Spallation Neutron Source and High Flux Isotope Reactor with tailored solutions to address their unique technical and hardware requirements.

Previously Mr. Mellard worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency as a Junior Professional Officer and Subject Matter Expert to the Physics Section in the use and applications of neutron generators and detectors.
