Sylwia Pawledzio

Dr. Sylwia Pawledzio is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Single-Crystal Neutron Diffraction Group, Neutron Scattering Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She received her BSc, MSc and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from University of Warsaw. During her studies, she took crystallographic courses to understand the physics behind X-ray diffraction and to develop practical skills necessary to obtain high-quality X-ray diffraction data.

Her Ph.D. project focused on experimental and theoretical charge density studies of metal-organic compounds. She used Hirshfeld atom refinement for experimental data to describe the electron correlation and relativistic effects in a gold atom, which are already published in IUCrJ and Inorganic Chemistry journals. Moreover, Dr. Sylwia Pawledzio was involved in different projects focusing on crystal structure analysis, including analogs of ferrocene, glucose, lactame, and others. These results are already published in RSC Advances, CrystEngComm, and Chemistry – A European journal.

She was awarded a Preludium grant from Polish National Center in 2019 and many smaller awards and scholarships from Polish foundations and the government. She additionally worked in different grants, e.g., Opus and Maestro displaying her qualities as a team player and a leader for younger staff members. She also was involved in Team Tech Core Facility, which required cooperation with industrial customers.
