Mark M Pethtel

I served in the US Navy for 20 years operating and maintaining submarine nuclear power plant electronic reactor control systems.  Served 2 tours as a certified instructor for the Navy, one at a nuclear training facility in Idaho Falls, ID and the other as the Electronics Technician Maintenance School lead instructor. After retiring from the Navy, I spent 18 months processing transuranic nuclear waste at the Advanced Waste Treatment Facility in Idaho, then moved to east Tennessee where I began my career at the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) in 2005.  I was a certified Nuclear Reactor Controller for 17 years at HFIR.  In January 2022, I transferred to the Reactor Certifications and Training group at HFIR, certified as an instructor and qualified HFIR Shift Supervisor, which I maintain to this date.
