Comprehensive Briefing Requirement
Once your security clearance is granted by US Department of Energy, the Comprehensive Briefing will be assigned to you, the person that holds the security clearance. Then you will complete the Comprehensive Briefing on the Learning Management System. When you are on the ORNL home page in the box on the right of the webpage that says, "for your review" it will have a learning listed in the "for your review" box please click that and it will take you to the Comprehensive Briefing (https://ornl.sharepoint.com/Pages/default.aspx).
After the Comprehensive Briefing
- Once the Comprehensive Briefing has been completed then you will need to go to the badge office to sign a Standard Form (SF)312 Non-Disclosure Agreement and the clearance office or badge office personnel will sign as witness on the SF312.
- Then you will receive a new badge that reflects your new clearance access.
- Once the badging office has completed the new badge, you will need to go to the front desk in the Visitor Center to have your building access put onto the new badge.
Federal HSPD-12 Badging
Briefing attendees are eligible to receive federal Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) credentials. An HSPD-12 enrollment is required and includes capturing your photograph and electronic fingerprints. The enrollment process takes approximately 15 minutes and must be conducted at the ORNL Badge Office or another authorized credentialing center.
In addition to attending the Comprehensive Briefing and completing HSPD-12 enrollment, you are required to appear in person to pick up and/activate their HSPD-12 credentials. You will receive an email from USAccess with a password for them to pick up their HSPD-12 badge. No appointment is needed for the ORNL Badge Office. ORNL Badge Office are open 7am to 4pm Monday through Friday. Mondays are New Hire day and are very busy in the mornings. Make sure to bring the password to the badge office to activate the HSSPD-12 badge.
Note: If you are located remotely, the Badge Office can send your HSPD-12 badge to another credentialing station and will help you find the station closest to you, to accomplish the enrollment and activation steps. Please contact x10badgingornl.gov.
Required ID for HSPD-12 Enrollment
To complete HSPD-12 enrollment, applicants must bring with them TWO forms of identification from the list below. At least one form of identification must be a government-issued photo ID.
- Driver’s License
- U.S. Passport
- U.S. Military ID Card
- Social Security Card
- Voter Registration Card
- Birth Certificate with seal (or a certified copy)
Note: If the names do not exactly match on the two forms of ID provided, a linking document is required to show when and why the name changed. Acceptable linking documents include a court orders, marriage certificates, etc. Any questions regarding acceptable IDs can be directed to x10badging@ornl.gov.
