Abstract
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is developing a magnetically suspended, canned rotor motor for driving a submerged impeller liquid salt pump. The first phase of the project is to design, fabricate, and test a room temperature, water loop motor-pup combination. This project represents the application of embedded sensors and control to achieve the fast, real-time control of the magnetic drive components.
