The Transportation Security UNIFIED Stakeholders Group (TSUSG) is an integrated group of industry (source producers, carriers, and forwarders), law enforcement, and government representatives with direct and ongoing involvement in the secure transport of radioactive sources within the United States.
The TSUSG brings together voluntary members of private industry, US federal and state government agencies, federal and state law enforcement agencies, and related professional associations to identify and examine current and potential transport security concerns, exchange experiences and challenges when implementing applicable regulatory requirements and transporting radioactive sources, and share relevant information that will allow the TSUSG to identify and collate best practice approaches that will strengthen the security of radiological materials in transit.
The TSUSG provides a forum to facilitate collaborative identification and resolution of security concerns related to the domestic transport of radiological materials. The group’s operating approach is to identify concerns or challenges; facilitate common understanding; and develop and implement enhancements, within existing regulatory frameworks, to address these transport security issues.
The TSUSG seeks to:
- Strengthen security for transport of radioactive sources
- Improve collective understanding of issues impacting government, law enforcement, and industries involved in radioactive source transport
- Expand working relationships among government, law enforcement, and industry
- Create long-term integration and free flow of issues, comments, and jointly developed practices between government, law enforcement, and industry
- Enable agreements among agencies on solutions to security challenges
