OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Aug. 3, 2017 -- Brian Davison, a researcher at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been awarded a 2017 fellowship by the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB).
SIMB fellowship is a special category of membership awarded to only a few individuals each year. Fellowship acknowledges those members with a “career-long sustained record of significant research and service contributions to the profession of industrial microbiology and biotechnology.”
Davison, chief scientist for ORNL Systems Biology and Biotechnology and science coordinator of the Bioenergy Science Center, co-chaired the 15th to 26th SIMB Symposia on Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals and received the Charles D. Scott Award from the society in 2006. He has more than 160 publications, an R&D 100 award and 10 patents in bioprocessing, industrial microbiology, biofuels and bioproducts.
